A one-week training program on electrical installation, house wiring, and solar system setup has successfully concluded in Katsina. The initiative, sponsored by Senator Abdul’aziz Yar’adua, aimed to empower 33 youths from Katsina Central Senatorial District with practical skills to enhance self-reliance and employment opportunities.

The training, held from November 11 to 16, 2024, at the Katsina Local Government Secretariat conference hall, was coordinated by Engr. Femi, who outlined the program's structure and objectives. Speaking during the closing ceremony, Engr. Femi stated, "This training was meticulously designed to combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical experience, ensuring participants gain comprehensive skills in electrical and solar installations."

Engr. Femi explained that the training began with theoretical sessions, introducing participants to essential concepts such as current, voltage, power, and the proper sizing of protection devices. Participants were also taught to read and interpret wiring drawings, especially for complex structures like multi-storey buildings.

The practical segment allowed participants to practice wiring techniques, including connecting switches, bulbs, and distribution boards. They also installed and powered setups using both generators and solar systems. A specialized solar training session focused on the sizing and connection of solar panels and inverters, emphasizing safety protocols and proper handling techniques.

To enhance real-world experience, the program concluded with an on-site installation at a mosque, where participants applied their skills under professional guidance.

Speaking on behalf of Senator Yar’adua, Alhaji Umar AK highlighted the program’s goal of fostering self-reliance among the youth. He remarked, "We selected three youths from each local government area within Katsina Central Senatorial District to ensure equitable representation and impact across the region."

One of the trainees, Sama’ila Zubairu Danmusa, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity. He shared, “The training has been invaluable. We successfully installed a solar device at a mosque in the Kofar Bai area of Katsina city. Moving forward, we will offer free device repairs at mosques across the state to support the community.”

Sheikh Dr. Abdullahi Yammawa, a motivational speaker at the event, encouraged participants to use their newly acquired skills to contribute to Katsina's development. The event was graced by dignitaries, including the Chairman of the APC in Katsina Local Government, the representative of the Magajin Garin Katsina, and Hon. Al’amin Modibbo Sarkin Malam Magajin Garin Katsina.

This comprehensive training program reflects a significant step towards youth empowerment in Katsina, equipping participants with practical skills for professional growth and community development.
